A French alternative to Glean
Scalt is a French alternative to Glean for mid-sized and large companies that want AI agents on their own data without leaving European law. The platform runs in a cloud in France, or on your premises. Glean, a US company, hosts in the United States by default and offers Europe on request, with no region in France.

Where Glean has the edge.
A comparison that only praised Scalt would be of no use to you. Here is what Glean does better today.
- 1
The breadth of integrations: more than 275 out-of-the-box connectors, where Scalt confirms with you, during scoping, the availability of each connector your use case needs.[9]
- 2
References: Booking.com, Zillow, TIME or Ericsson, shown by Glean, where Scalt does not publish named references yet.[10]
- 3
Certifications already held: SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001 and ISO 42001, where Scalt’s ISO 27001 certification is in progress.[7]
Where Scalt makes the difference.
Scalt is a sovereign solution: a French company, a platform hosted in France or installed on your premises, and agents your teams govern.
Law and hosting
A French company, a contract under French law, a platform operated in France, or deployed on your premises or in your own cloud.
Agent governance
Every sensitive agent action goes through a human approval in the Inbox; every case keeps its governance log, exportable.
Your data stays your data
No training on your data, personal data anonymised before the model call, reversibility written into the DPA.
Scalt or Glean: who each platform is for.
Scalt suits you if
- You are a French or European mid-sized or large company, and your jurisdiction matters.
- Your agents will touch sensitive data: HR, legal, tenders, customers.
- You want a human to approve agent actions, with a log to show.
- You are starting on a precise document scope, not on the whole application estate.
Glean suits you if
- You need to index hundreds of SaaS applications from day one.
- You require certifications already in place, not in progress.
- Your first need is enterprise search, before agents.
The questions we get asked
Is Glean hosted in Europe?
Not by default: Glean-hosted tenants run in us-central1, in the United States. A European region is available on request, in the Netherlands first, otherwise in Belgium, Germany, Poland or the United Kingdom; no French region is offered. The subprocessors Glean lists are all located in the United States, with an affiliate in India for support.
Does Glean train its models on my data?
No. Its AI addendum of June 2026 commits Glean not to use customer data to train or fine-tune models, and imposes zero-day retention on its model providers when the Glean key is used, except where required by law or for trust and safety. Scalt makes the same commitment, and also anonymises personal data before the model call.
Does Scalt replace Glean?
Not one for one. Glean is first an enterprise search engine connected to hundreds of applications. Scalt is a platform of governed AI agents that starts from your documents and your cases, with human approvals and an audit log. If your priority is European law and hosting in France, Scalt is the alternative; if it is indexing your whole application estate, Glean has the edge.
How much does Glean cost?
Glean does not publish its prices: its website points to a demo request. Scalt has no public price list either; the offer is built with our sales team, based on volume. In both cases, ask for a written quote and the DPA before comparing.
